Active Travel England and the Department for Transport have commissioned research into floating bus stops safety and accessibility.
This research project is being led by Steer consultants through Costain, under the Department for Transport SpATS3 framework.
An essential part of the project is the Disability Advisory Group. This group will be made up of 8 Disabled people. The group will meet online, with meetings facilitated by Wheels for Wellbeing.
The Disability Advisory Group will:

- Help work out how to make routes with bus stops on them more accessible for Disabled people walking/wheeling, cycling and using faster mobility aids, and;
- Help produce a report for the Department for Transport and Active Travel England. This report will be used to inform new government guidance for floating bus stops.
Details on how to apply, pay/compensation for group members and accessibility measures for the group including BSL interpreters, carer expenses, accessible document formatting, additional 1:1 time with project team members etc are provided in the downloadable documents below.
