We are pleased to announce the return of our Bikeability sessions for users of non-standard cycles. These sessions are aimed at people who have prior experience of our sessions and cycles, and may like to consider attending our led road rides once they have gained some additional skills and confidence. Alternatively, they may already join us on our led road rides, but hope to progress to independent and solo cycling of their own on the roads.
Bikeability is the national cycle training programme and standard, teaching attendees how to cycle “confidently and competently on today’s roads”.
Bikeability Level 1 aims to teach you:
Basic cycle maintenance, basic control of your bike, pedalling without feeling wobbly or out of control, and to be as aware of your surroundings as you can safely be.
Bikeability Level 2 aims to teach you how to:
Start and stop with more confidence, pass stationary vehicles parked on a road, understand road signals, signs, and markings, negotiate quiet junctions, crossroads and roundabouts, and share the road with other users. Why do Bikeability training with Wheels for Wellbeing?
In addition to offering a fleet of non-standard cycles for your use, our Wheels for Wellbeing instructors are extremely experienced and much more aware of the specific physical and mental issues related to enabling Disabled people to experience the joys of cycling. While we deliver the certified national syllabus, we deliver it in a way which prioritizes the needs and enjoyment of Disabled attendees.
Please book your place in the usual manner on our Booking Portal. Places are limited to 10 people per session, in order to provide the best learning experience.
