We want everyone to have a safe and enjoyable cycling session. Please follow these simple rules and any instructions given by Wheels for Wellbeing staff.
While cycling
- Use your brakes to stop. Do not use your feet, fences or other objects to stop.
- Check that it is safe before joining the track or starting to ride.
- Follow the designated direction of travel and stay within the areas being used for the session.
- Cycle at a safe speed and give other riders enough space.
- Follow instructions from Wheels for Wellbeing staff at all times.
- Tell a member of staff immediately if you notice a problem with a cycle or anything else that may be unsafe.
Helmets
Our instructors may require you to wear a helmet where they believe this is needed for safety.
If you wear a helmet, it should fit securely and comfortably. Please ask one of our instructors if you need help.
When you finish cycling
- Leave the cycle safely where staff have asked you to leave it.
- Tell a member of staff about any fault or damage you have noticed.
- Do not adjust, dismantle or remove parts from WfW cycles unless a member of staff has asked you to do so.
Photos and filming
Please do not take photographs or videos during sessions without permission from the Session Manager. This helps us protect the privacy of everyone attending.
Behaviour and safety
Everyone attending our sessions must behave in a way that does not put themselves or other people at risk.
Wheels for Wellbeing may pause or stop someone from taking part, or ask them to leave the session, where their behaviour or actions create a significant safety concern.
Where appropriate, we will work with the participant and their parent, carer or support worker to consider what support or reasonable adjustments may help them take part safely in future sessions.
Carers and support workers
If you attend with someone you support:
- Stay responsible for their personal care, supervision and behavioural support throughout the visit.
- Make sure there are enough carers or support workers to meet the needs of the people you bring.
- Tell WfW staff about any relevant support needs, known risks, behaviours or triggers that could affect safe participation.
- Help the person you support prepare safely for cycling, including making sure clothing or personal items cannot become caught in the cycle.
- Follow staff instructions and help the person you support follow these Ground Rules.
Please speak to the Session Manager if you have any questions or concerns.
Thank you for helping us make our sessions safe, welcoming and enjoyable for everyone.
